Blue Sky Campfires

Blue Sky Campfires
I live my life with a lowered expectation
I’ve never been happier, nor my smile wider
I am guided by modified anticipation
You’ll never see me surprised by sad eyes
I love you pretty babe
I love you pretty babe, till you’re in your grave sweetening mud pies
I love you pretty babe, till we’re recounting the days gone by
I love you pretty babe, like a July day ‘round the campfire swatting flies
Like whiskey singing to me
I get warm down to my knees
Thinking of sunny days in July
Blue sky campfires
Like whiskey singing to me I get warm down to my knees
Thinking of sunny days in July, burning paper, burning leaves

Dance Floor
Some of the people who I’ve known, yeah I love them to their bones
They’re coming and they’re going
Ontario, New Brunswick, or BC
London, Ireland, Poland or Germany
The back deck, just working, or Venice Beach
Now let’s go tear up a dance floor in the woods,
and just make like we’re still friends, la da
I guess it’s better in the end when you just pretend like things they’re alright
Just like everything is good, cause if you make out like you plan,
then you make out like you should and that’s for the…
Some of the people who I’ve seen, you see they’ve disappeared from my dreams,
and I wonder where they’ve gone
Now I hope and pray that you never are just a song
'Cause some people who I’ve known, yeah I love them to their bones
They’re coming and they’re going.
Ontario, New Brunswick, or BC.
London, Ireland, Poland or Germany.
The back deck, just working or Venice Beach.

Laughing Eyes
Have you ever had your lover in sight,
and just been perplexed by
your proximity
to a place you’ve been half a century?
Have you ever had your lover in sight,
and just been perplexed by,
the proximity
that you have achieved?
It’s bewildering
There was a time when I first met you,
your hair was always straight and long
I’d buy you flowers every other weekend,
to keep your smile a pleasing song.
Now I watch you in the mirror, as you craft your beauteous face
As we pass through lunar phases may we occupy the same space
May this be what love is for, always wanting more,
With that knife in your hand you’re still beautiful
I’d go anywhere and never find such laughing eyes
Your breathing and time, it’s all tied into mine

Lackwit
I played a part, I say the silly things to
appease your heart, I played a part
I climb the trees, police the breeze,
I’ll screw a dream right off your jar
Found out that’s how you get discarded
I had my wits about me then,
but I’m a lackwit now, I say
you could ask me anything and I won’t know
I won’t know, I won’t know, no I won’t
This once was a manned ship, captain, steward and whip
Every oar was to and fro
Every wave, an average blow, it's now a decimated throw-away
A whale just beached and singing as we go
I had my wits about me then,
but I’m a lackwit now, I say
you could ask me anything and I won’t know
I won’t know, I won’t know, no I won’t

Howl
04:32

Howl
Long distance stores, and carnival stones
No I won’t have no more, and I won’t take no throws
If you’ll just send me off on some lonesome boat
With a lighter and canteen, I’m not so resourceful
However, I will sail my way to some distant shore
And there I will have my fill of the land and the culture
I’m eating long grain rice with some bison and saffron
Forgetting whiskey and old spice and leaving the lights on
Instead I’m drinking cold nights with star light and some twisted sunshine
With the folks who work long days, still howl at the night time
And the lovers they don’t need no name, no number
And there’s children and they still play in the forest and the desert
That just howl
You see your red moon mean nothing but a sky that’s deformed
by the weak limbs of light as they adopt different forms
And you’re a weakling of mind if you think there’s much more
So I’ve been told
I just howl and howl and howl

Show Me You Get Off
I,
I get it all from your head
Gather eons in your atmosphere
Show me you get up, show me high
(you’re almost there)
Show me you get off
Show me light, bright light

Future Ghosts
You say you’re on your own now. You say you never do things
You say you never win now. You never get up to leave
You say you’re on the ropes now. Say you the ring it's spinning
Yet underneath the headlines, it's just sun and then showers
Everything’s a host of what society has known
So make the most of the show, for your future ghosts
Verse
What are we furthering here?
It’s just a pot for the gold, and a feast for the crows
See, everything’s a host of what society has known
So make the most of the show for your future ghosts

No Curse

No Curse
You’re awfully light-haired, crow, and being so bold
Your shining pennies in a row
You’ve tasted nectar of forbidden fruit
Your greedy claws misleading you
There must be somebody out there
to just grease the palm and pay the man to speak the words
No words
No curse
You’re awfully light-haired, bear just having no cares,
jiving penniless in your lair
You’ve gotten into the honey, and it’s sticky too
Your greedy paws betraying you
There must be somebody out there
to just grease the palm and pay the man to speak the words.
No words.
No curse.

Meteorite

Meteorite
Yeah, you seem to know where you want to go
Yeah, your yellow highway lines on your painted road
They lead you straight into the sea
And if you’re looking back at me
Hope your thoughts, they’re not too poor
Don’t want those waves crashing on my shore
Yeah, you seem to know where you want to go
Yeah, your yellow highway lines
I painted over them with snow,
for you said you love it when it’s cold
“Cause it’s so easy to get warm”
And I was there, frozen melting in your hair
Yeah, you seem to know where you want to hide
Yeah, your yellow highway lines,
that you painted while you were driving
I just read the highway signs, and of course you thought I read your mind
And maybe you were right
Perhaps we’re all just meteorites,
until one day
we all fall out of the night
we just fall fall fall
Yeah, we fall out of the night.
